Hi,
my first wife p%%%%ed away 1 Feb 2004.
I had a hard time of it ---  depression, anxiety, despair, etc -- for a year.

I eventually got through it; and remarried 6 Sep 2005.

I will be glad to talk about it; and, with others about their situation.

I have listed some grief websites.  I think that any or all may be useful to folks in need.

angelfire.com
childloss.com
goodgriefresources.com
healingafterloss.org
groww.com
healingheart.net
widownet.org

Also, most hospice prganizations provide aid for those in grief.

A book entitled "The Year of Magical Thinking" by Joan Didion is an excellent memoir of the first year after the demise of a spouse.

Hi anabasis - I was just wondering how you are doing?  I have a friend of mine today who in the last week had a friend that lost his wife and son and also another friend that has lost her niece and her son is in critical condition from after a car accident.  My heart and prayers go out to them and I am a little troubled right now.  Especially over these young ones.  The young boy in the car accident is in critical condition and has also lost a foot.  Please pray for them.

I am very sorry to hear that.  It is hard to determine what to do.  It is, I think, important to be there and give support.  That may be the best that can be done.  You may wish to refer them to the grief sites on line.  I will pray for them.

Life is good.

I determined what I needed to do, found the tools to do it, and used them.
So, it has worked out well.

Those web sites shown above are alive and well.  And, they are good sites.
