I read recently in my local news paper that this generation will be the first in our history to not outlive their parents because of obesity.
We all know that 65% of americans are not just over wieght but obese.
I heard on t.v. that if this trend doesnt change. 85% of americans will be obese by the year 2010. Americans are one of the largest groups of carb addicts.Unknowingly, we have become addicted to processed carbohydrates. We keep spiking our blood sugar, which quickly drops because of the over stimulation of insulin. The uncontrollable craving that leads to another high-glycemic meal just reinforces this addiction and the vicious cycle continues… up and down, up and down… By stimulating our insulin over and over again, we are terribly abusing our insulin and it responds by doing what it is supposed to, that is, changing glucose into fat. This is the truth about weight loss. This is why people can’t keep the weight off.
Not only does eating the typical American diet cause us to store more fat, we literally become hooked on processed and high glycemic carbohydrates. Our cravings make us go back for more and more empty calories. The blood sugars go up and when we experience the crash, we want more foods to bring our energy up. Then about one to two hours later we are crashing again with our blood sugars. We end up over time becoming fat trappers instead of fat releasers! People eating high glycemic foods eat about eighty percent more than the ones that are eating low glycemic foods. We need to replace our favorite meals and snacks with healthy carbohydrates. We need about fifty percent of our diet made up from carbohydrates. This is where we get our energy and fiber foods.
You may be trying to eat less food to lower your caloric intake only to find that you have a relentless craving for more. After gorging yourself full of whatever you can find, you then become discouraged because you believe your will power is not strong enough. In reality, you are being set up for failure by the bodies natural response to high glycemic carbohydrate diets. This is the truth about weight loss. For more information contact me at
